Stehan Heymans is a promising South African rugby union player known for his skills as a flyhalf, particularly his exceptional kicking ability. Born in 2004 (based on his participation in under-18 competitions in 2022), Heymans attended Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies) in Pretoria, where he captained the school's 1st XV team in 2022. During his school career, he represented the Vodacom Bulls at the under-18 Craven Week tournament and was selected for the South African Rugby Union (SARU) under-18 schools team. He also played for the SARU under-18 team, contributing as flyhalf to their victory in the under-18 International Series hosted in Stellenbosch that year. His standout performances earned him the Ruggas.co.za Player of the Year award for 2022, recognizing his composure under pressure, brilliant passing, and kicking prowess.
After completing school, Heymans joined the Sharks rugby franchise in 2023, a significant move for the East Coast team. In 2024, he featured for the Hollywoodbets Sharks under-21 team in the SA Rugby U21 Cup, where he contributed conversions in matches, including a 56-26 win over the Leopards under-21 side. As of 2025, he remains part of the Sharks' junior squad. Additionally, in early 2025, Heymans played for the NWU Eagles in the Varsity Cup university competition, listed at number 6 (flank) while also handling conversions, such as in a 39-34 victory against Wits, showcasing his versatility. His career trajectory highlights a transition from schoolboy star to professional prospect within South African rugby structures.
