Dian Heunis (born 2003) is a robust South African rugby union prop, celebrated for his scrummaging strength and physical dominance in the front row. At 1.85m (6 ft 1 in) and 126kg (278 lb), the tighthead specialist brings a blend of agility and raw power to the forwards, positioning him as a key prospect in the Cell C Sharks' development pipeline. Hailing from the rugby heartland of the Western Cape, Heunis has progressed rapidly from schoolboy standout to international youth representative, with his trajectory pointing toward senior United Rugby Championship (URC) and Currie Cup action.

Heunis honed his skills at Oakdale Landbou High School in Riversdale, a cradle for South African rugby talent. Known for producing Springbok-caliber forwards, Oakdale provided the platform for Heunis to excel as a dominant tighthead prop. His physicality and technical proficiency in the scrum quickly caught scouts' eyes, leading to his recruitment by the Sharks academy in October 2021 while still in his matric year. This early signing underscored his potential, as he balanced final exams with the promise of professional rugby.

Joining the Sharks' youth structures, Heunis thrived in the academy environment, participating in the SA Rugby Academy programme in March 2023—a prestigious initiative preparing players for the World Rugby Under-20 Championship. Selected among 41 elite prospects, he trained alongside future stars, focusing on high-intensity conditioning and tactical refinement.

His international bow came at the 2023 World Rugby Under-20 Championship in Cape Town, where he earned a starting spot for the Junior Springboks against Argentina on July 4. Making his debut as the uncapped tighthead prop, Heunis anchored the scrum in a hard-fought 30-13 loss, impressing with his stability under pressure despite the result. This capped a whirlwind year, cementing his reputation as a reliable set-piece operator with growth potential in loose play.

Now 21, Heunis is fully embedded in the Sharks' system, training with the senior squad while featuring prominently for their age-grade teams.
