Cecil Parsons, a tighthead prop (No. 3) from Bethlehem Voortrekker High School in the Free State, burst onto the national scene as one of South Africa's most promising front-row talents. At Voortrekker, he anchored the 1st XV scrum with ferocious power and mobility, earning the nickname “spicy plum" for his explosive carries and scrummaging dominance.
Youth Representative Honours include:
-Griffons U18 Craven Week (2024): Standout performer; try-scorer.
-SA Schools Squad (2024)
-SA U18 International Series (2024): Selected as tighthead prop—part of the clean sweep vs England, France, and Wales.
Professional Pathway led to the Lions Academy & UJ. Post-matric, Parsons signed with the Emirates Lions in January 2025, embarking on his pro journey while studying at the University of Johannesburg (UJ). A UJ Rugby student-athlete, he debuted in the SA U19 Cup (Fidelity ADT Lions.
At 18 years old, the young powerhouse blends raw scrummaging grunt, try-scoring threat, and 80-minute engine—prime Junior Springbok material and with Lions U21 exposure imminent, expect Currie Cup bench cameos soon!
