Alzeadon Felix was born in Cape Town, Western Cape, and grew up in a rugby-loving family, with his father playing a significant role in nurturing his talent. He attended Grey College in Bloemfontein, a rugby powerhouse that has produced 46 Springboks, including legends like Ruan Pienaar and Francois Steyn. Felix’s time at Grey College saw him shine as a versatile back, excelling in schoolboy competitions and earning a reputation for his pace, flair, and playmaking abilities.
Felix emerged as a standout schoolboy rugby player, representing Free State at the U18 Craven Week in 2024, where he stole the spotlight with dazzling performances. Playing primarily as a fly-half for the Free State Cheetahs, he earned back-to-back Player of the Match awards against the Griffons (57–36 win) and Blue Bulls (34–27 win) at the 2024 Craven Week held at Hoërskool Monument in Krugersdorp. His breathtaking footwork, speed, and ability to create tries drew comparisons to Springbok star Damian Willemse and All Blacks legend Dan Carter. Despite Grey College’s loss to Paul Roos Gymnasium, Felix’s individual brilliance was widely praised.
In 2024, Felix was selected for the SA Schools team, showcasing his skills in the U18 International Series against top European sides like England, Ireland, and France. He continued to impress in 2025, earning a call-up to the Junior Springboks (SA U20) as an injury replacement for Siya Ndlozi during the World Rugby U20 Championship in Italy. Felix, a utility back, joined the squad for their final pool match against Scotland on July 9, 2025, contributing to a dominant 73–14 victory that secured the Junior Boks’ top spot in their group. His versatility allowed him to cover multiple backline positions, including fly-half, centre, and fullback.
Felix also had a standout 2025 season with the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in the FNB Varsity Cup, where he played as a fly-half and scored two tries in four matches. His dynamic attacking play earned him the Suzuki Rookie of the Year award, a testament to his ability to seize opportunities and execute fundamentals effectively. Social media posts highlighted his sensational try-scoring ability, with one clip from UJ’s campaign going viral.
In November 2024, Felix signed professional contracts with the Golden Lions in the United Rugby Championship (URC) and the Blitzboks, South Africa’s national sevens team, marking a significant step toward a professional career. His move to the Lions was celebrated by fans, with posts on X describing him as a “special player” who makes rugby “beautiful to watch.”
At 19, Felix is on a fast track to professional success. His dual contracts with the Golden Lions and Blitzboks offer pathways to both 15s and sevens rugby. His performances in the U20 Championship and Varsity Cup have positioned him as a likely mainstay for the Junior Springboks in 2026, with potential to represent the senior Springboks or compete in the HSBC SVNS series with the Blitzboks. Comparisons to Damian Willemse and Quade Cooper underscore his potential as a game-changer, and his ability to play multiple positions enhances his value. With continued development in the Lions’ setup, Felix is poised to become a household name in South African rugby
