Herman Lubbe, born in 2005, is a South African rugby player from DHL Western Province, known for his role as a tighthead prop. A product of Stellenberg High School in the Western Cape, Lubbe has established himself as a formidable front-row talent in the South African youth rugby scene.
He progressed through the Western Province youth system, representing them at the U18 Craven Week. In 2024, he earned his first Junior Springbok (South Africa U20) cap off the bench against England at the World Rugby U20 Championship in Cape Town.
In 2025, he was selected for the Junior Springboks squad for the U20 Rugby Championship in Gqeberha, starting against Australia on May 5, 2025, at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, and featured as a replacement in the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship in Italy against Australia on June 29, 2025. Noted as the heaviest player in the 2025 U20 squad at 125kg,
Lubbe’s scrummaging strength and physicality make him a key prospect for DHL Western Province and the Stormers’ professional pathway.
